The facilities of the former Fort McClellan offer quality mountain biking opportunities. The McClellan Bike Trail is comprised of 4.5 miles of purpose built singletrack and caters to beginner riders of all ages. It is the first specially designed National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) trail in the state of Alabama. Currently there are four trail segments in the system: Reveille, Retreat, WAC, and 2 Star Betty. Since the facility is constructed on a former military base, it is highly recommended riders stay on the trail because of the remote possibility of being exposed to Unexploded Ordinance (UXO). The trails on the facility roll around Sunset Hill and along the base of the Baltzell Mountains in eastern Calhoun County.
