The Gridiron in Oxford, Alabama is a sports bar and grill located at 50 Exchange Boulevard, Oxford, Alabama 36203. This restaurant and public house is located adjacent to the Oxford Exchange, a multi-store shopping center situated near the intersection of Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 78. The restaurant officially opened at its present location on October 23, 2016, the date of the fall NASCAR race at the Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama. Since that date, The Gridiron has become a favorite eatery for locals, out of towners staying at one of the many nearby hotels, and travelers commuting down the Interstate 20 corridor.

The Gridiron has diverse menu options aside from just the traditional barroom fare of burgers, fries, and wings. The restaurant boasts an in house smoker that allows them to smoke their own meats daily. Having this amenity allows fresh barbecue items to be prepared in house without simply thawing and heating prepackaged items. Add to this that their signature sauces, including a white sauce that is tailored to complement their chicken dishes, is also prepared in house, and you have a recipe for success.

As a full service sports bar, The Gridiron offers a variety of wines, liquors, mixed drinks and beers for the thirsty patron. They offer an extensive happy hour that runs from 11:00 A.M to 6:00P.M. and features $2.00 domestic draft beers and $3.00 wells. Aside from the commonly available standard beers that the clientele enjoy, there are many popular microbrews and craft beers from local and regional breweries available as well. At least half of the draft beer selections are from breweries such as Cahaba, Avondale, Good People, and Back Forty. These beers are kept on tap in regular rotation and are a popular item for out of towners looking for a taste of Alabama as they pass through Calhoun County. There are 33 television screens combined in the indoor and outdoor seating areas, and allow many different sporting events and games to be broadcast simultaneously. On Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays during football season, the commentary for the most popular football games are played over their intercom. However, groups and individuals are allowed to ask their host or hostess to broadcast their favorite teams on individual screens. And though The Gridiron is considered a family oriented and kid friendly establishment, the activities after 9:00 P.M. are geared toward adults.

Another unique feature of The Gridiron is that the venue hosts live music every night of the week except for Monday and Tuesday. They pride themselves in offering a variety of musical genres to appeal to the varied tastes of their patrons. And on Sunday mornings, a brunch menu is offered and live music is provided. During the brunches, $3.00 Mimosas and $5.00 Bloody Mary’s are available and they are strong enough to give you a head start on your day. On Tuesday, the establishment hosts a trivia and karaoke night. The two activities are offered on a rotating basis to allow patrons to participate in both events and to break the monotony of a single, prolonged event.

Every September, The Gridiron sponsors a fundraiser for childhood cancer. The annual Ride For a Cure is usually held at a local offroad/ATV park with several different classes of off road vehicles participating in the day’s events. A live band provides entertainment for the occasion and a portion of the admissions proceeds are designated to combat childhood cancer. The monies raised through their fundraising activities are donated to financially support local families with children who are fighting or undergoing treatment for the disease.

Whether you are looking for a place to have a drink with your friends and catch the latest sports on screen, have a meal and listen to live music, or toast the beginning of your Sunday with a drink and brunch, The Gridiron in Oxford, Alabama has exactly what you need.
