One of the many joys of being a child is waiting for Santa Claus to bring all of the toys and gifts you have been wanting and hoping for on Christmas Eve. Waking up on Christmas morning to find a pile of wrapped boxes and gift bags under the tree is a feeling unlike any other for children and families all over the country. The anticipation of opening those boxes and starting to play with your new toys is simply unmatched by any other time throughout the year – even your birthday!
Imagine looking under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning and realizing that Santa Claus did not bring you and your family any toys or presents. You have been good all year – surely you were on the nice list. Why did your house not receive any presents this year? Rather than ripping through bright colored paper and throwing bows around the room, you are left wondering what put you on the naughty list.
It is an unfortunate reality that not all children and their families will be able to have that wonderful feeling of Christmas joy due to financial hardships. Too many families in Alabama (and communities around the world) are dealing with struggles with money and cannot afford to buy toys. When parents are living paycheck to paycheck to buy food and pay rent, there is not always room in the budget for toys and games.
Residents in the community of Oxford, Alabama, in Calhoun County can help these underprivileged children be able to celebrate the holidays by participating in the 14th Annual Toys for Kids Golf tournament at the Pine Hill Country Club. Check out the event Facebook page (here) to learn more!
