We stopped by the new LRK, Let’s B Royal Kitchen, on South Quintard for lunch recently. The restaurant brings Julia’s Kitchen, Royal Slush and Let’s B Sweet together under one roof. You’ve got your food, your drinks and plenty of ways to get yourself in trouble on the dessert side of the menu.
It’s a neat idea. Julia’s Kitchen brings the savory side, Royal Slush brings the drinks, and Let’s B Sweet brings exactly what its name promises. All three names have a spot on the big LRK wall inside, where a purple loveseat, gold lettering and decorative columns make a little photo area. They’ve had some fun with the place, and it gives the dining room some personality.
For lunch, I went with a chili cheese dog with onions and a large order of crinkle-cut fries. The lady helping me said Passion Mango was their most popular drink, so I figured I’d give that a try, too. We grabbed a table and ate there, but I noticed a few folks coming in to pick up to-go orders while we were sitting down.
One thing I appreciated was the pricing. The menu we checked out listed hot dogs at $3, chili cheese dogs and hamburgers at $5, and canned drinks at $2. There were also nachos, chili cheese nachos and cheese fries among the choices. With what it costs to eat lunch out these days, it’s nice to find a local place with some affordable options.
Now, I probably should have looked at the dessert menu before committing to that large order of fries.
Let’s B Sweet has quite a lineup. Fried Oreos, funnel cake bites, red velvet bites, fried honeybuns, strawberry cheesecake salad and chocolate-covered strawberries are just part of it. Then there are the dessert egg rolls, with choices including strawberry cheesecake, Oreo cheesecake, peach cobbler and Biscoff cheesecake. That’s a whole separate visit as far as I’m concerned.
I didn’t have room for dessert this time, but those fried Oreos are on my list for the next trip.
The drink menu gives you a few things to work through as well. Along with the Passion Mango I ordered, the lemonade choices include regular, pink lemonade, strawberry and blue raspberry. Between those and the sweets, you certainly don’t have to be looking for a full meal to have a reason to stop by.
What I like about the setup is being able to find all of that in one stop, with a place to sit down and enjoy it. It’s good to see another local spot open its doors in Anniston, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with it.
She also mentioned something about soul food on Sundays, and my ears perked right up. I didn’t catch all the details, so ask them about that one. I don’t want to give y’all the wrong information, but I do want a plate.
LRK, Let’s B Royal Kitchen, is located at 1126 South Quintard Avenue in Anniston. I was told the menu changes, so check their Facebook page for the latest offerings and operating hours before heading over. And leave a little room for dessert. I’ll be taking my own advice next time.
