When it comes to celebrating the magic of Christmas with your family and friends, many people enjoy seeing beautiful lights together and feeling the Christmas spirit rise inside them. In Oxford, AL, one of the best ways to truly enjoy this festive season is by bringing you and your family to the Oxford Festival of Lights from November 20 through December 24, 2021.

What Is the Oxford Festival of Lights?

The Festival of Lights is a drive-through light show sponsored by Alabama Power that is family-friendly and will help to bring the Christmas season alive for you and everyone you love. During the festival, you will find fun for the whole family. The Festival of Lights turns Choccolocco Park into a Winter Wonderland, celebrating this special time of year’s beauty, magic, and wonder.

Many families have relatives that come in from out of town for the holiday season, and the Festival of Lights at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama, is a great way to have a fun family celebration. For one price of one carload, you cannot find a better winter wonderland celebrating the joy of the season in the city center.

From the comfort of your vehicle, you can enjoy the beautiful drive-through light show with your family and friends for one low price. Once you have driven through the lights in Choccoloco Park (or before you pile in the car), you can take part in the other events happening at the Festival of Lights as well. These include Santa’s Village experience, vendors, and outdoor skating.

Be sure to purchase your tickets online for the Festival of Lights now so that you do not miss out on this winter wonderland event! Tickets can also be purchased each night of the festival, but you may be able to find better prices by purchasing your tickets in advance. Tickets are non-refundable, and the festival will be held, rain or shine every night. The tickets you purchase will be good for any date of the festival – no specific date is required, as long as the festival is open.

Be aware that there are different ticket types depending on the type of vehicle you are bringing to the festival:

  • Car Ticket (8 or fewer people)
  • Van Ticket (9-15 people)
  • Bus Ticket (16+ people)
  • Limo Ticket (large vehicle driven by a chauffeur separated from the passengers)

No matter what type of automobile you have, a ticket price per vehicle (one carload) is for everyone in the car. Be sure to remain in your vehicle for the entire light show with your headlights off to experience the show fully.

Santa’s Village Experience

At Santa’s Village, sponsored by the First Bank of Alabama, you can find even more fun for the whole family. Whether you are seven or seventy, everyone can enjoy a jolly “Ho! Ho! Ho!” from Santa Claus. In the Village experience, you and your loved ones will find opportunities for Santa photos as well as more activities, including a synthetic ice-skating rink, food vendors, merchandising, inflatable Christmas characters, slides, and so much more. Pictures with Santa have become almost a rite of passage for a kid, and for only $10 at the Festival in Santa’s Village, you and your family can meet Santa and have your photo taken to commemorate the event.

While the Festival of Lights turns Choccolocco Park into a true wonder for these favorite holidays, Santa’s Village expands the experience and allows you to feel like a kid again. You do not need a lake to freeze to go ice skating – at this year’s Festival of Lights in Oxford, AL, you will find a great skating rink so you can show off your skills on the ice or teach your little ones how to stand up on their skates (please do not carry children while on the ice). Be sure that a parent or guardian supervises any kids under the age of 6 at all times to ensure that everyone has a safe and fun time in the rink.

When you come to the festival, be sure to take advantage of all of the wonderful vendors who are ready to serve your food, beverage, and merchandising needs. The festival does not permit any outside food or beverages, but the vendors are more than happy to provide you with anything you may need for a small price. Major credit cards are accepted (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express) as well as cash.

The festival will be following all of the guidelines and orders set forth by the Governor of Alabama as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), so be sure to have a mask handy with you so that you can keep yourself and your loved ones safe during the event.
