The Oxford Festival of Lights will be hosted in 2020 at Choccolocco Park, located at 954 Leon Smith Parkway in Oxford, Alabama.  The expansive grounds of Choccolocco Park provide a perfect venue for the festival, and its proximity to shopping, dining, and lodging facilities make the Festival of Lights a favorite destination for the citizens of Oxford and the surrounding regions.  The event runs from November 21 until December 24 and is open to the public from 5 pm until 10 pm nightly.  Tickets for the event can be purchased online by following the link on their web page, in-person at the Oxford Performing Arts Center, and at the gate of the venue.  Ticket rates vary depending on the type of vehicle and its occupancy capacity, and separate car, van, bus, and limousine tickets are available for purchase.  Purchased tickets may be used at any time during the duration of the event.  Since the event is held rain or shine, tickets are non-refundable in the event of inclement weather.

The Oxford Festival of Lights has become a tradition for the residents of Calhoun County, and through the sponsorship of Alabama Power the event provides its patrons an excellent opportunity to enjoy extensive Christmas light displays from the comfort of their personal vehicles in a safe, family friendly environment.  This year’s Festival of Lights also features an all new Santa’s Village experience that provides attendees an opportunity for a richer holiday experience.  Sponsored by First Bank of Alabama, the village offers Santa photos at a modest cost of $10, synthetic ice skating, food vendors, inflatables for the children, slides, merchandising, and many other amenities.

As a drive through light show, the event encourages attendees to shut off their vehicle headlights so that the full effect of the display can be fully enjoyed.  Patrons are asked to remain in their vehicles at all times unless they are entering Santa’s Village.  Alcohol, glass, outside food and drinks, and weapons are not allowed at the festival, but a full roster of vendors will be onsite to provide patrons with the concessions needed to eat, drink, and be merry.  Dogs are allowed at the event, but only service dogs are allowed in Santa’s Village and no animals should be left unattended in vehicles.  More information regarding guidelines is available on the festival’s website at https://www.oxfordfestivaloflights.com/info.

During the holiday season, a highlight of this special time of year for many people is spending time and creating memories with friends and family.  The Oxford Festival of Lights is dedicated to providing a fun and secure event so attendees can do just that.  Through the sponsorship of many local and regional businesses, the festival provides the residents of Calhoun County and visitors alike the perfect opportunity to do so.  So if you are looking for a place to make this special time of year one for the scrapbook, check out the Oxford Festival of Lights at Choccolocco Park.  It is indeed a sight to behold.  Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
